More information regarding the Maths Club

The maths club at Community at 67 restarts on Wednesday September 12th 2018. It is aimed at pupils in years 5 and 6 and runs every Wednesday in term time from September to May at 4 – 5 p.m.The venue can take a maximum of 10 young people so if you are interested get in touch.
Squash with fresh fruit and veg will be provided in the break.

Children can bring their maths homework and work through it under supervision with help given when needed or just join in the fun maths activities on offer.

The club is being run by Sheila Crocombe, an experienced maths teacher. She explains, “I try to work on activities which show that maths is not just something for the classroom but is needed in real life, however the material we cover is firmly based in what is specified for the SATS. If you love maths or not we hope that the sessions will be enjoyable and that sharing with pupils from other schools will have a positive spin-off “

Community at 67 aims to run projects at the centre, which benefit the local community.

Martin Burton, Chair of Community at 67, says, “Community at 67 and Maths at 67 are run entirely by volunteers. Whilst there are private tutoring options for maths available in the area, the cost of the sessions puts them out of the reach of many. Maths at 67 will provide an affordable option and is very convenient as we are based close to three of Keynsham’s primary schools".

Saltford Primary school has also joined in, in the past, as many of their pupils live in Keynsham.

There is a suggested donation of £1 per child per session towards the running costs of the centre, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.”
